Setting up the app on an OS 2.0 theme with Theme app extension

In the very first steps of App setup, you can successfully set up your theme with the desired filter and search functions. In case you want to update and alter the OS 2.0 theme of your store with the current app features integrated, here is the setup guide you can follow.

There are 2 methods to run an OS 2.0 theme setup with theme app extensions:

• Auto setup
• Manual setup
• Note: This feature is only available for App Lib V3, please contact us for further instructions.

Auto theme setup flow

Before integrating the app's features into the target theme, you need to make sure to back up the theme to avoid any compatibility conflict. To eliminate any theme display error, it is unable for you to set up our app's features on your live theme.

To implement our app on a new theme:

1. From the app’s admin, go to Theme > Set up new theme.

2. Select [Target OS 2.0 Theme].

• Note: In the case that your selected theme was installed in theme setup V2, we are going to remove the code of theme setup version 2 to run the new version of theme setup V3 (theme app extension).

If your theme is not supported in our supported themes library, our default theme will be applied with complete features instead of your current theme's layout.

3. Select the features you want to install on  [Target Theme].

4. Select your preferred filter layout. You can have a look at demos of vertical layout and horizontal layout before selecting your preferred one.

5. If you select the recommendation feature to install, you are required to select recommendation widgets that were added to the recommendation feature settings.

6. Click Run Setup. Wait until the process is complete.

After setting up all features, you cannot run the theme setup for these features again. However, you can update or add other recommendation widgets in the theme editor.

It is recommended that you go to the theme editor of your selected theme to check the layout again.

After running auto-setup successfully, the app embed - Boost Core will be enabled and the app block of your installed features will be added to the template accordingly.

Manual theme setup flow

Recommendation feature

Step 1: Open Shopify's Theme Editor.

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize.

Step 2: Enable Boost Core - app embed.

Step 3: Add the recommendation widgets using app blocks.

1. Choose the template you want to add widgets.

2. On the left-side menu, click Add section and choose the widget under APPS.

   • Enter widget ID.

     

     

3. Then you can change the position of the chosen widget by dragging it up or down.

4. Click Save.

Filter feature

Step 1: Open Shopify's Theme Editor.

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize.

Step 2: Enable Boost Core - app embed.

1. In Shopify's theme editor, click App embeds on the left.

Step 3: Go to the collection or search page > turn off the banner and product grid section.

Step 4: Add the app block - Boost Filter.

• What users can do in the app block:
  • Click on the button “manage app”: users will be directed to our app to set up.
  • Click on the button “remove app” to remove it.
