Advanced settings of an Instant search widget

Our app allows you to set up how your search box offers suggestions as soon as your customers click within it. Moreover, we have tools that can help you to set up some solutions when the search box cannot return any relevant products even when the search term hasn’t been typed out in full.

Set up your search box on-click

As soon as your customers click within the search box on your site, they can be offered various suggestions, such as recent searches, popular search terms, and some of the most popular products that you might want to promote.

To set up the autosuggest of your search box when customers just click within it:

1. From the app’s admin, go to Search > Instant search display.
2. Make sure that you have switched the button Enable Instant search widget on.

- In the drop-down of Highest number of displayed results, choose the number of recent searches you want the search bar to offer based on your needs.

Set up auto-suggestion when the search bar returns no results

Your search bar can return no results when the search engine cannot find any relevant products to autosuggest while your customers type within the bar. To prevent customers from getting "nothing found" from the search bar and make sure all searches return some kind of results, you can set up some solutions with our app, so that the search bar can recommend search terms and products based on your needs.

To set up recommendations when the search bar returns no results:
1. From the app’s admin, go to Search > Instant search display.
2. Make sure that you have switched the button Enable Instant search widget on.
3. Go to the Display settings section and select the No search result suggestions tab.
4. Switch on the buttons of components that you want your search box to begin listing its suggestions when it returns no results.
- Display search term suggestions: by turning on this option, the search box will automatically offer up to 10 search terms that your customers might find helpful.
- In the Label field, fill in how you want this component to appear when the search box returns no results.
- In the Search term list section, you can choose either Display search term suggestions based on your store data or Add search terms manually.
- Display most popular products: your search box will autosuggest up to 10 of the most popular products in your store when the search box cannot return any relevant results.
- In the Label field, fill in how you want this component to appear when the search box returns no results.
- In the Product list section, you can choose either Display best-selling products based on your store data or Add products manually.
5. Click Save settings.
Note: If the data does not suffice to automatically autosuggest search terms and best-selling products, the app will hide these components in the search bar and let it return “ Sorry, nothing found for [search term]". To avoid that, we recommend you add search terms and products that you want to promote manually.
