Filtering products by using multi-level tags

đź“– Our app provides you tools to set up filters for product attributes that are not available in both Shopify and our app by using product tags. When you want that filter to have multiple layers of grouping for a better user experience, you can utilize one filter option of the app, which is called "Multi-level tags".

Set up a “Multi-level tags” filter option

For example, on your All products page, you don't want to create a Toy collection. You simply want your customers to know that you have several toy products and they can filter those products by some specific toy types like the image below. Then, you can use a "Multi-level tags" filter option to create that filter.

  1. Filtering Products by Using Multi-level Tags

    Make sure that you have added tags to specific products that you want to have in this filter

  2. From the app’s dashboard, go to Filter > Manage filter trees
  3. Select the filter tree that you want to display the "Multi-level tags" filter
  4. Select the Add filter option
  5. In the drop-down of Option Type, select Multi-level tags

  6. In the Option label section, enter how you want it to appear on your storefront.

    In the example above, you can enter Toy in the Option label section.

Create a “multi-level collection” filter by using multi-level tags

  1. In the Multi-level tag items section, the first row represents the first level of this filter. Select your designated product tag on the left box and assign a display name on the right box.

In the example, we select the "Doll" tag with the displayed name also as “Doll”. When our customers select the Doll checkbox on our storefront, they will see all products that have the "Doll" tag.

2. When you want a second level to the first level to display a subset of related products, use Add new item to [the first level tag]. Select your subset product tag on the left box and assign a display name on the right box.

In the example above, we will choose Add new item to Doll. We proceed to select the "Doll Playsets" tag and name it “Doll Playsets” for display.

3. If you want the second level to have another sub-level, choose Add new item to [the second level tag] and repeat the tag-selection-and-naming steps.

If you want to create another second level, click Add new item to [the first level tag].

In the example above, we will repeat Add new item to Doll. We proceed to select the "Plush Doll" tag and name it “Plush Doll” for display.

đź’ˇ Products used to create a parent level and products used to create its child level are not correlated by tags. In the example of displaying toy types above, to create the "Doll Playsets" child level, you simply have to use products with the "dollplayset" tag. You don't need to add the "doll" tag and "dollplayset" tag to those products to make the "Doll Playsets" collection the child collection of the â€śDoll” collection.

4. Repeat the above steps until finished

5. Drag and drop these collections and tags into your desired position

6. Save on the Edit filter option page

7. Save on the Filter Options page

8. Check how new settings appear on your storefront
