How to Switch Versions in Boost AI Search & Discovery

Overview

What is Switch version feature?

Easily transition between different versions of the Boost AI app with our Switch version feature. This functionality allows you to upgrade from older versions to the latest TURBO version or revert as needed while preserving all settings.

Why Switch version feature?

With the launch of TURBO, our latest version aimed at enhancing app performance, we've introduced a feature that allows smooth transitions for merchants from older versions. This upgrade feature is designed to let users easily experience the advanced capabilities of TURBO, with the flexibility to revert to previous versions if needed, ensuring merchants can choose the version that best suits their needs.


How to use

Check your current version

  1. From the app admin, go to Account Settings > App preferences.
  2. Inside the App preferences menu, look for the App version section.
  3. Here, you can find the sentence You are using [version name] that tells you which version you're using.

How to upgrade to Boost TURBO (Latest version)

  1. In Boost App admin, go to Account Settings > App preferences menu
  2. Navigate to the App version section and select Boost TURBO (Latest version).

  1. Click Upgrade version button. A confirmation popup will appear prompting you to confirm.
  2. Click Upgrade on the popup to proceed with the upgrade.

💡 Note

Each time you upgrade from a previous version to TURBO, a confirmation popup appears. You can select Don't show this again to bypass this notification in the future.

Once the upgrade to TURBO is complete, you'll see an 'Upgraded successfully!' message, and your app admin will be updated to the TURBO version. Now, you're ready to explore the new features. For more information on utilizing TURBO, including setting up widgets and templates, check out the available resources and articles dedicated to the TURBO version.


How to revert from TURBO to former versions

  1. In Boost App admin, go to Account Settings > App preferences menu

  1. Click Switch version button. A confirmation popup will appear prompting you to confirm.
  2. Click on Switch back on the popup to proceed.

💡 Note

Every time you switch from the TURBO version back to a previous version, a confirmation popup appears. You can select Don't show this again to bypass this notification in the future.

Once the switch is completed, your app admin will revert to the selected former version and a success message will confirm the change.


How to set up TURBO on Themes with Former Versions Installed

  1. After you upgrade to the TURBO version, to set up the widgets on your theme, go to Integration > Shopify integration from the App admin.
  2. Select your desired theme from the Select the theme you want to manage section.

2.1 If you select a Live theme

If setting up TURBO for an active theme, it's recommended that you use a duplicated version to test and adjust before applying changes to the live theme.

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  • For the theme that you want to duplicate, click the ... button to open the actions menu, and then click Duplicate.

2.2. If you select an unpublished theme with former version installed.

Since each theme should use only one version at a time, if you select an unpublished theme with the former version installed, an error message will be displayed.
  • If you want to continue using this theme, you will need to remove the former version and install TURBO on this theme.
  • Alternatively, you can select a different theme to proceed.

Follow the steps below to remove the former version:
  • Click the Remove former version button. A confirmation popup will appear, prompting you to confirm.
  • Click the Remove button on the popup to proceed.
  • You can select a different theme to proceed.

âš  Please note that this action cannot be undone.

Once the former version is removed, click Next to proceed with setting up TURBO on your selected theme.

âš  If you are using a former version and want to run theme setup for a theme installed with the TURBO version, an error message will be displayed. Theme management for the TURBO version-installed theme is only possible when you are using the TURBO version. Please change the app version to TURBO in the App preferences.

Currently, third-party apps integration feature is not available for the TURBO version. We are diligently working to ensure that TURBO supports all third-party apps that are available in previous versions. Expect an update soon where all third-party apps will be accessible through the third-party menu.
